Since the NHL Draft was instituted in 1969, 21% of all players selected were from the OHL, 18.5% from the Western Hockey League and 10.5% from the QMJHL. They contend the QMJHL emphasizes speed, finesse and offence at the expense of defence and physical play. Matthew Barnaby, a former NHLer, now a regular on telecasts, confirms that contention.
